Chased - 1st Place (Joint Winner)
I was drenched in sweat. I had spent most of the morning running from a peculiar man with a gun. I looked around and caught a glimpse of the man. I started to run. I stopped when I got to the fiery outback. The sandy floor was scorching. I turned in time to see a rock flying towards my stomach, winding me. I woke up hanging upside down by a rope at the top of a tree. I looked around in awe and saw a gun pointing at me. “Who are you?” I asked.
“I am a Death Bringer”.
New Beginnings - 1st Place (Joint Winner)
As I rode my shiny red motorcycle along the dusty, winding desert road, I wondered what my family back home were doing. Busy going about their city lives. The outback sun was scorching, my mouth was parched. Everything looked unfamiliar to me. No flashing lights, no traffic, no skyscrapers and definitely no crowds. This was a peculiar sight for me. Again my thoughts turn to my creature comforts in the city. I don't miss my air conditioning, iPad or comfy bed...Yet! I remember my friends now. They would be in awe of me. In awe of this experience!
Stranded - 3rd Place
“Help!” I shouted. I lay stranded on the Australian outback, salty tears spilling down my wreck of a face. I had already called for medical help, but the ambulance copter had never come. That’s peculiar, I thought. If they really cared, they would be already here, carrying white stretchers in the boiling sun and…I snapped out of my vision. I gingerly touched my injured arm as the scorching sun plummeted down onto my face. I looked up in awe as I saw not a helicopter, but an eerie spaceship landing on the winding road.
