The Tooth Fairy - 2nd Place
Tom woke and jumped out of bed, checking under his pillow to see if his newly fallen out tooth had been replaced with money. Tom couldn’t believe his eyes. Instead of finding some money or his tooth, he found a minute, little tooth fairy struggling for its life with electricity fluttering from its wings. Tom shrieked, picked the little fairy up and placed it in the palm of his hand. Tom spent days looking after the fairy, feeding it and giving it water, when, finally the fairy opened its mouth and stated, “Catastrophic conditions hampered events”, and the fairy died.
Underwater
I turned on the T.V., “Catastrophic conditions hampered events…” said the reporter.
This weather has been going on for MONTHS. Half our neighbourhood is underwater and we have been asked to stay inside unless shopping for food. Even then there have been thousands of crashes.
“The death toll on the road now reaches 54 with another 12 crashes on the road again this-morning. We ask all drivers to take extreme care and to stock up on food while you can. We are hearing that farmers can’t…“
The screen went blank. Blackout. Again. When will this catastrophic weather end?!
The Cyclone - 1st Place,
It was the day the cyclone hit
All the candles were lit
Catastrophic conditions hampered events
Dirt seeping through the heater vents
Twisting, turning, darkness, fear
Why would you want to live here?
Children screaming, adults pale
Sprinting down the dusty trail
Weeping, alone, nowhere to go
Not enough time to slow
Twirling, like a ballerina dancing with her heart
Families split apart
Wind ripping through our innocent bodies
Our worst fears confirmed
Rain bucketing down on our helpless rooves
Knocking over anything that moves
What to do, I don’t know
I guess we have to go
Deep Death - 3rd Place
That time I accessed the deep web was a rainy day. I was bored and didn't know what could go wrong. I downloaded tor and was
on my way. I was a curious idiot exploring to my heart's content when I stumbled on a strange website. It was a blank page.
I knew it couldn't be a blank page so I waited and a chat box appeared. In the chat-box it said "But catastrophic conditions
hampered events". I thought it was a chat I joined and I was right. Then they posted a picture ...
